Intelligent Space

An intelligent house or space is an environment capable of connecting itself with all “intelligent” objects in it, and also provide interconnectivity between them, besides colect information about local residents and take decisions. Therefore, intelligent space is a way to increase confort and security for its residents. This research project purpose development of hardware and software for an intelligent space using computer vision as primary source of information for positioning and controlling robotic devices.

In addition to cameras, an intelligent space may have others sensors, like motion, temperature and humidity sensors, microphones, and RFID tags. Currently, our intelligent space includes a network of four cameras, simulating a domestic environment where the user will be able to interact with. The platform used to manage the infrastructure is a system developed under IoT based architecture.

Besides the existing Intelligent Space in Viros Laboratory,  there is another one located in Coordenadoria de Engenharia Elétrica do Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo – Ifes, headed by professor Mariana Rampinelli.
